Arena Wien
The rounded form of the building naturally elevates the arena within the urban structure. Its appearance changes with the seasons—spring, summer, autumn, and winter—giving the building a unique and symbolic character on an international level. The facade design operates without the need for a watering system and functions as a passive cooling mechanism during the summer months. In addition to serving as a large sports venue for the people of Vienna, the structure also creates a welcoming environment for urban biodiversity. The hall itself stands out with its continuous, rounded seating tiers, creating an intimate atmosphere that brings spectators close to the action. The entryways are well-marked by light accents and smoothly integrated into the design with gentle curves. Instead of a traditional scoreboard, retractable screens descend from the ceiling, allowing for a completely smooth, adaptable ceiling depending on the event's requirements.
