KIRCHENGASSE
Rooftop Extension, Unterach am Attersee This rooftop extension was designed to integrate gently into the traditional fabric of the village, while opening the apartment towards the surrounding landscape. A spacious balcony extends the living area outward, framing the scenic views of lake and mountains. Inside, different qualities of tannen wood shape a warm and continuous atmosphere across floors, ceilings, and built-in furniture. A fireplace and a long, comfortable sofa line the living wall, while the dining table, placed for the best view of the lake, marks the transition to the kitchen. The bathroom and master bedroom are tucked to the quieter rear side of the apartment, where the morning sun filters in softly. A compact corridor integrates storage and a place to hide away and charge digital devices, keeping the main space free and calm. The entrance to the kitchen–living area is marked by a stone portal, grounding the space with a tactile presence. This project is a modest extension that seeks to balance contemporary living with the atmosphere of its alpine village setting, offering moments of openness towards the lake and intimacy within.
